What a calcium score scan is
A coronary artery calcium scan is a quick CT scan that looks for hardened calcium in the arteries feeding your heart. It does not use needles, dye, or sedation.
The result is a number called a calcium score. It can help you and a healthcare professional understand heart-disease risk; it does not diagnose a heart attack or tell you by itself whether the test is right for you.
What it costs
Calcium score scans are often paid for directly rather than billed to insurance, and each clinic sets its own self-pay price. Where we show a price, we checked it against clinic information on the date listed. Where we do not, the result says “Call for price.”
